Thominhas Almeida is knocked out by Sean O'Malley at UFC 260 and has complications in the organization

Brazilian promise in the bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) of Ultimate, Thominhas Almeida was no match for Sean O'Malley. On the main card of UFC 260, held this Saturday (27), in Las Vegas (USA), the São Paulo native showed strength, but ended up succumbing to the skill of his rival, who 'erased' the athlete with a devastating knockout in the third round. Coming from three consecutive defeats, Thominhas came under pressure for a victory in the company. The athlete, however, ended up falling victim to the opponent's greater reach, who easily touched the Brazilian.

Losing his fourth in a row, Almeida's future in Ultimate became even more uncertain. The São Paulo native has not won a match since November 2016, when he beat Albert Morales.

The confrontation began with O'Malley connecting with a clean right to Thomas' face. The Brazilian tried to shorten the distance, but the North American asserted his greater reach. The Brazilian hit his rival with a low kick, but Sean responded in kind, throwing the São Paulo native off balance. O'Malley remained more aggressive, but Almeida showed danger on counterattacks. Three minutes later, the North American shook the Brazilian with a kick to the head. Almeida lost his balance and fell after a direct shot from his opponent. Sean stopped the actions, believing that the referee would stop. The Brazilian then got up, but the North American tried to take advantage of the good moment. In the final minute, the São Paulo native was operating on 'automatic' and Sean continued to attack the Brazilian with aggression. Thominhas managed to survive the punishment and the round came to an end.

In the second stage, the North American took the initiative again with a kick to the Brazilian's waistline. A new low kick put Almeida off balance again. The Brazilian continued to have difficulty finding the distance and threw shots into space. After a minute, Thominhas managed to take down his opponent with a low kick. The North American got up quickly and the duel was once again fought standing up. Sean once again shook the São Paulo native with two clean rights to the face. After two minutes, the American began to provoke Almeida, lowering his guard and trying to induce his opponent to make a mistake. Even at a disadvantage, the Brazilian continued walking forward, but was unable to 'find' his rival. In the final minute, Sean took a shot, but ended up falling. Thominhas tried to take advantage of the opportunity and landed a right bomb on his fallen opponent. O'Malley absorbed the blow well, but there was no more time.

The final round began with O'Malley kicking Thomas in the knee. The Brazilian tried to return the attack, but the blow went empty. Sean let his guard down again and Almeida tried to hit his opponent, but to no avail. Sean once again put pressure on the Brazilian with a sequence of punches and kicks. Even receiving the blows, the São Paulo native showed a lot of courage and continued trying to reverse the situation. After almost 15 minutes of fighting, the North American impressed with his physical strength. Fast, the athlete touched the Brazilian with ease and managed the result. Almost in the final minute, O'Malley surprised the São Paulo native with a cross, which made Almeida collapse. Groggily, the Brazilian ended up being hit again, forcing the referee to stop the duel.

Flyweight representatives (up to 56,7kg.), Miranda maverick e Gillian robertson they staged a fight marked by technique. Over the course of 15 minutes, the athletes had to open their toolboxes and had a hectic confrontation. After three rounds, Maverick prevailed and was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.

At just 23 years old, the clash marked the 11th fight in Miranda's career. After the positive result, the fighter maintained her 100% success rate with UFC gloves, now with two victories.

A veteran of the category, Robertson suffered the second setback in a row and had the warning signal turned on. Before the UFC 260, the Canadian was coming off a defeat to the Brazilian Taila Santos, in December.

In style. Pressured for his first UFC victory, Jamie Mullarkey added the positive point in style. In the fight that opened the main card of the show, the lightweight (up to 70,3kg) needed just 46 seconds to settle the bill in front of Khama Worthy. With a well-aimed cross, the combatant erased his rival, who had no reaction.

In Ultimate since 2019, Mullarkey was unable to be successful in his first two appearances in the company. Now, the fighter is moving away from his bad phase once and for all and will begin his climb towards the elite of the category.

Without time to put his strategy into practice, Worthy ended up getting into trouble at the company. With the negative result, the North American now has two defeats in a row and needs to win in sequence to run the risk of being dismissed.
