World boxing champion predicts fight against Amanda Nunes within three years

Olympic medalist and current PFL athlete, Claressa Shields prepares for her MMA debut and seeks confrontation against Brazilian legend

Undefeated in professional boxing, owner of four world titles and two-time Olympic champion, her resume Claressa shields speaks for itself in the 'noble art'. Willing to make history in combat sports, the American is preparing for her debut in MMA. Dreaming of stardom, the American thinks big and is already talking about facing the legendary Amanda nunes, even before his debut in the PFL.

“I have a three-year contract with the PFL. As I evolve, all I want is to improve, to have more experience. I believe that in two or three years, I and Amanda nunes we can share thecage' (octagon). It will be a great fight”, said the boxer, in an interview with 'ESPN'.

Owner of an indisputable striking technique, Shields knows that, to face the 'Lionea' on equal terms, she will have to dedicate herself to the maximum in other aspects. The fighter, however, seems to have already outlined her career plan in mixed martial arts and, therefore, her purpose can be achieved soon.

“People might say: 'but she (Amanda) has a black belt in this and Claressa only knows boxer'. People will be anxious, because I'm much bigger than her and we would have to face each other in the featherweight (up to 65,7kg) or lightweight (up to 70,3kg) division. I'm also very athletic. I know how to fight. Full stop. So, I think that if I learn other MMA disciplines, things will be in my favor. We will have a great, bloody fight. This is the type of fight I like. I will see her in a few years,” she concluded.

Hired by the PFL, Shields registered her adaptation to mixed martial arts on her social networks. Recently, the two-time Olympic champion released videos training with Jon Jones and receiving help from Holly holmAt Jackson Wink MMA.

Even focused on the new modality, 25-year-old Claressa continues to perform in the 'noble art'. In early March, the North American beat Canadian Marie-Eve Dicaire, retaining the WBC (World Boxing Council), WBO (World Boxing Organization) belts and winning the IBF (International Boxing Federation) and WBA titles. Considered by many to be the best MMA fighter of all time, Amanda nunes continues to make history in the sport. Last weekend, the Brazilian ran over Megan anderson and defended his featherweight title for the second time. The Bahian also occupies the 'throne' in bantamweight (up to 61,2kg), where she has been at the top since 2016.
