After the victory of Jan Blachowicz about Israel adesanya, UFC 259, last Saturday (6), Glover Teixeira was confirmed as the next challenger for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg). Present at UFC Apex last weekend, Teixeira 'celebrated' the Pole's victory and spoke about his physical condition. An immediate reserve in the main fight, the Brazilian will then just continue training until the moment the champion can return to the octagon.

“Blachowicz’s victory was great for me. He came up to me after the fight and said, 'You're next,' so that was perfect. I made weight, I'm in shape, I was ready to fight, so it's not like I still have to get in shape to fight him.”, said the veteran.

In a great phase of his career, Glover has won five consecutive victories and is currently number one in the category ranking. His last defeat was to Corey anderson, in July 2018.

If Ultimate makes the date for Blachowicz's new fight official, the veteran will have his second chance to become division champion. In 2014, the Brazilian faced the then champion Jon Jones and was defeated on points.
