Former UFC champion bets on Aljamain Sterling's dominance in bantamweight: 'He will be the Jon Jones of the category'

The North American's trainer, Matt Serra believes that the 'Funk Master' will dominate his division

Hall of Famer and former UFC champion, Matt Serra, believes there will be a new holder of the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg.) in the UFC 259. Coach aljamain sterling, he believes that his pupil will dominate the division and will be the new Jon Jones.

“I think if you look at his entire career aljamain sterling, talent was always present. He really could be the new Jon Jones from the rooster category. He is very talented, can do whatever he wants and will hold the belt for a while. (…) I'm very happy for him and I believe he will be the new champion”, said Matt in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

Despite pointing to aljamain sterling as the new bantamweight champion, Matt Serra also made a point of praising Petr yan. According to him, the Russian is aggressive and 'fantastic' as a fighter.

“I think the Petr yan very fierce. He is a born and fearless fighter. I think he's really looking forward to this fight with the aljamain sterling. He is a great fighter, a fantastic fighter”, concluded the coach.

With a sequence of five triumphs, aljamain sterling stands out for victories against big names in the division, such as Renan Barao, cody stmann, Jimmie rivera, Peter Munhoz e Cory Sandhagen. The American has a record of 19 wins and three losses in his career.
