Although he was not experiencing the worst moment in his career, the recent defeat to Alexander Volkov, at the beginning of February, was decisive for the veteran’s dismissal. Close to 41 years old, the 'giant' ended up moving away from a title fight after losing to the Russian and his follow-up within the company ended up being damaged.

In recent interviews, Alistair has never hidden that his MMA cycle is nearing its end. After the loss to Volkov, however, the fighter didn't make it clear whether he would continue to repeat.
