“He (Adesanya) is thin, you know? He will be very fast and he is focused on that. Perhaps, if he gained more weight, he would become sluggish and lose his main weapon. On the other hand, he will be underweight. I don't mind. I train with guys in his division (middleweights), so I’m ready for speed”, said Jan, in an interview with ‘ESPN'.

Faced with an opponent who has become increasingly known for his great technical ability, the Pole already has a strategy drawn up to emerge victorious. For Blachowicz, his rival's speed could be nullified by fatigue and that is what Jan will look for.

“I will use my strength and weight to tire him in the clinch. I will use everything to win this fight. My body will also be bigger and I will use that to win the fight,” he said.

To defend his title, Blachowicz will have to weigh 93kg. or less at the official weigh-in, which takes place this Friday (5). The Pole then analyzed how he will arrive for the measurement.

“At the moment, I weigh between 97kg. and 99kg. I expect to weigh 220 pounds (about 99,7 kg., on fight day). It's the perfect weight for me. I don't care how much my opponents weigh, less or more. I’m the best when I’m around 99,7kg.”, he concluded.

The superfight against Adesanya will mark the first title defense for Blachowicz, who became division champion in September 2020, when he beat Dominick reyes. For the Nigerian, the clash against the Pole will represent the opportunity to win his second belt with the company. Today, Israel is the middleweight leader (up to 83,9kg).
