Bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg.) since July 2020, Petr yan is ready for his first title defense. This Saturday (6), at UFC 259, the Russian should prove to be the best in the division against aljamain sterling. Known for his stand-up fighting technique, Petr admitted that he paid special attention to grappling, which is one of Sterling's strong points. The Russian, however, revealed that he is ready for any situation inside the octagon.
“I’m prepared for all areas of MMA. I can hurt him standing up and on the ground too. I will not be intimidated by the challenge. I'm training with grapplers high level. O grapple It doesn’t bother me,” he concluded.
Petr became the absolute leader of the category when he crashed José Aldo in one of the most exciting fights in the UFC 251. At the time, the Russian didn't have an easy time against the man from Manaus, but managed a knockout in the fifth round, after four rounds of pure movement.
