“Me too (wanted the fight), Joe Rogan, but Dustin has other plans. So let’s move on,” wrote Charles, on his Twitter account. Twitter.
Since hitting the dreaded Tony Ferguson, UFC 256, Do Bronx never hid that the next step in the division would be the belt. Executioner of 'Bicho Papão', the Brazilian always made it clear that his plan was to subsequently face the winner of the clash between Dustin poirier e Conor McGregor, in January this season.
The Brazilian's idea, however, ended up not being met by Ultimate. At the UFC 257, the São Paulo native saw Dustin run over the Irish star and, as a result, the rematch between the two has been discussed behind the scenes.
If, in fact, he gives up on facing Poirier, at least momentarily, Do Bronx will look for other good options within the division. One of them is the newcomer Michael chandler, who won Dan Hooker in his debut with the organization.
So far, there are no predictions about when Charles will return to the octagon. With eight consecutive victories in the group led by Khabib Nurmagomedov, the São Paulo native is currently third in the division.
