Former number two in the heavyweight rankings, North American shows maturity to deal with setback last weekend

Featured in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg.) of Ultimate, Curtis blaydes seems not to have been shaken by his defeat to Derrick Lewis No. UFC Las Vegas 19. Days after being knocked out by his compatriot, the American used his Instagram account to speak out about the negative result. The athlete faced the confrontation with maturity that postponed his dream of fighting for the belt.

“At times you are the hammer, at other times you are the nail. This game has a small margin for error and I got caught. It happens. Merits to Derrick. There is no shame and my head remains high”, wrote the fighter.

The confrontation against Lewis marked a direct confrontation for a future title fight in the group. Known for being a standout in heavyweight wrestling, Blaydes ended up having his fighting strategy frustrated and was caught by his opponent's powerful hands.

With a devastating knockout in the second round, Curtis temporarily stepped away from his dream of fighting for the division title. After the setback, the North American ended up losing second place in the ranking and now occupies third place.

Although the category has talents that could fight for the title in the near future, in 2021, the belt already has its disputes planned by Ultimate.

No UFC 260, the champion, Stipe Miocic, will put the throne at stake in the rematch against Francis Ngannou. Recently, the president of Ultimate confirmed that the winner of the clash will be responsible for giving a 'welcome' to Jon Jones in the category.
