Cory Sandhagen knocks out Frankie Edgar with flying knee and gets closer to title fight

I couldn't even sweat. In the co-main event of UFC Las Vegas 18, held this Saturday (6), in the United States, Cory Sandhagen staged a real assault on the veteran Frankie Edgar. Standing out in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2kg), the North American needed just 28 seconds to pass the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg).

With the result, Sandhagen, who occupies second place in the group led by Petr yan, gets closer to a title fight. The athlete, however, will have to wait for the outcome of the fight between the current Russian champion and aljamain sterling, which are faced in the UFC 259.

In the interview after the triumph, Cory paid respect to Edgar, who, at 39 years old, was trying to win a second belt in different divisions in the organization. The knockout suffered by Sandhagen was the second in the American's career in eight defeats.

Cory's victory confirmed the athlete's good phase. In his last performance, the athlete had brutalized Marlon moraes, a feat that placed him in the top 5.
