“I want to crush him. I want to destroy it. I want to rip his head off. I have nine (wins) so far, but soon I will have 10. So we will keep looking for more. If (Kamaru) Usman won like that, I will demolish him. He doesn't have knockout power or anything special. I will dominate both him and Usman,” said Chimaev.

The fighter alludes to Edwards' latest setback in Ultimate, when Kamaru Usman defeated him by unanimous decision of the judges. The fight took place in December 2015.

Chimaev and Edwards would face each other on December 19th, in the main attraction of UFC Las Vegas 17. However, at the time, the Englishman tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw from the card. Ultimate then rescheduled the fight for January 20th, but it was the Swede's turn to catch the disease. Now, both are rescheduled for March 13th.
