Deiveson's brother, Francisco Figueiredo debuts with victory at UFC Ilha da Luta 8

On points, Brazilian triumphs in his first performance with the company's gloves; Markus Maluko loses and gets complicated in the organization

With two representatives on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Island 8, on the morning of this Wednesday (20), in Abu Dhabi, Brazil came out with 50% success in the initial fights. The highlight was Francisco Figueredo, who made his Ultimate debut and beat Jerome Rivera with property. Markus Maluko suffered another setback, this time against Dalcha Lungiambula, and is in a difficult situation in the franchise.

Rookie of the day, Francisco Figueredo sought the 'safe game' to defeat Jerome Rivera. The Brazilian, who is the younger brother of the flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg.) Deiveson Figueiredo, dominated the three rounds with good takedowns and effective work on the ground, without any scares during the fight. THE FIGHT

The duel started with Francisco Figueredo looking for strategic play on the grid and without exposing themselves. After Jerome Rivera trying to apply a knee to the waistline, the Brazilian took advantage of the opportunity to take down his opponent. On top, Francisco sought to 'hurt' his opponent's body, while the North American gave 'return' with short blows. Deiveson's brother still 'hammered', but decided to return to the fight on his feet. In the final stretch of the first round and with the two in the center of the cage, Francisco makes a beautiful lateral movement and takes the fight to the ground again.

In the second round, Francisco controlled the center of the octagon and took down Rivera with ease. He managed to land good blows from above, frustrating the American. The Brazilian still had time to apply good knees and pass the guard, before resuming the fight on the feet. Chasing the loss, Jerome tried to take it to the cage and apply small jabs to hurt his opponent, but he was unsuccessful in his attempts.

Just as he had done in the first two rounds, Francisco Figueredo, again with some tranquility, knocked down his opponent. However, he was unable to take advantage of the opportunity and Jerome Rivera managed to recover. The North American was taken back to the fence and, in desperation, he tried to reverse the situation and take down the Brazilian, who quickly managed to land on top. Francisco tried to go to the back, but the fight was on again. Finally, there was still time for Deiveson's brother to take the fight to the ground once again, before the referee called it a day.

Known as 'Sniper', the man from Pará faced his first foreign opponent and achieved his 12th victory in his career. Now, he increases his record to 12 wins, three setbacks and one draw.

The second Brazilian to enter the octagon, Markus Maluko showed resistance, but failed at times – especially in the first two rounds – and was defeated by the South African Dalcha Lungiambula, in the unanimous decision of the judges. The Brazilian still tried to fight wisely and looked for submissions, but it wasn't enough to reverse the result.

Firstly, Maluko suffered a fall in the first minutes of the fight and tried to apply a guillotine choke, but Lungiambula made the save. The Brazilian also tried to attack the shoulder, but the South African 'weighed in' and knew how to defend himself from the attacks. In the second round, Dalcha landed a beautiful straight right, knocking down Markus, who tried to use an armbar, again without success. Lungiambula still had time to throw two elbows before the end. In the third and final round, Maluko applied pressure and tried to take down his rival. However, there was nothing that changed the course of the duel.

At the end of the fight, the judges were unanimous in pointing out Dalcha Lungiambula as the winner, with a triple 29×28. With the defeat, Markus Maluko now has three consecutive setbacks and finds himself in a delicate situation in the UFC. The Brazilian has a professional record of 12 positive results and five negative results.

It turned into a ride! In the last fight of the preliminary card, Ricky simon dominate Gaetano Pirrello and wins his fifth victory in Ultimate. In the fight, the North American already started the fight by taking down his rival. At the same moment, the Belgian manages to explode and get to his feet.

Simon continued to pressure his opponent and, in the same way, pinned his opponent to the ground. He worked on the transitions and remained trapped, but Pirrelo managed to get out. At the end of the round, the North American attacked his opponent's legs and knocked him down again, this time throwing two elbows at the end of the round.

On the way back, Ricky simon It didn't take long to take down Gaetano Pirrelo two more times. In his last attempt, he fell mounted, where he landed a katagatame and forced the Belgian to give up the fight. With the triumph, the fighter now has a record of 17 wins and three losses in professional MMA.

In the fight that opened the card of UFC Fight Island 8,  Manon Fiorot he debuted at the company on the right foot. In complete control against Victoria Leonardo, the Frenchwoman applied a game of pressure and knocked her out. In the first round, Fiorot was sovereign. She was willing to end the fight quickly and, confidently, kept her rival at a distance, using pressure and avoiding Victoria's approach.

In the second round, Fiorot dominated again. After touching her opponent from a distance, the Frenchwoman took the North American to the cage, after attacking in the clinch. As soon as the two remained standing, Fiorot applied a beautiful kick to Victoria, who attacked the blow. Taking advantage of the good moment, the Frenchwoman continued with a devastating sequence, before the medical interruption. Now, Manon Fiorot increased his record to six wins and one defeat.
