President of the World Boxing Council says McGregor can compete for belt in the sport

WBC leader, Mauricio Sulaiman states that the Irishman would need to beat a ranked opponent and, therefore, would be at the forefront of trying to win a title in the 'noble art'

Although he is focused on his return to MMA after more than a year away from the sport, Conor McGregor received a great incentive for a new test in the 'noble art'. According to the president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, the Irishman could put himself at the forefront of competing for an official title in the sport, if he beats a ranked opponent. In an interview with 'Sunport', the leader spoke about the subject.

“I would say he needs to face and beat a ranked opponent. From then on, he would be eligible to compete for the title. We have many examples of Muay Thai fighters who became professionals in international boxing and qualified to fight for the belt”, said Mauricio.

In addition to taking into account the popularity of McGregor, who has become a phenomenon in MMA fight promotions, Sulaiman considers the Irishman's talent in martial arts.
