To make room for his brother, Deiveson confirms moving to UFC bantamweight soon

Current leader in the flyweight division, 'Deus da Guerra' hopes that Francisco Figueiredo inherits his current title and projects a successful future in the under-61,2kg group

New favorite and current UFC champion in flyweight (up to 56,7kg), Deiveson Figueiredo may be close to saying goodbye to his current category. This is because the athlete wants to make room for his brother, Francisco Figueredo, recently hired by the organization, so that the group's title stays 'in the family' and the 'God of War' can take his talent to the roosters (up to 61,2kg.).

“My brother is joining the biggest organization in the world to make history. He is very tough. One of the things that motivate me to train more every day”, stated the current leader of the flyweights, in an interview with 'sherdog.com'.

Former champion of Jungle Fight, Francisco already has a fight scheduled for his debut. The athlete faces Jerome Rivera on January 20, on 'Fight Island', in Abu Dhabi. As far as Deiveson depends, the pupil will have no problems on his debut.

“I'm sure he (Francisco) will neutralize Jerome Ribera wherever the fight takes place, standing or on the ground”, said the champion.

Projecting a successful future for his brother in the category where, today, he is the 'God', Deiveson understands that he is saying goodbye to the under-56,7kg group. it will be a matter of time. In order not to run the risk of having to face a family athlete, Figueiredo will try to go to the bantamweight and make history, becoming yet another athlete to win two belts in Ultimate.

“After two or three fights, I have no doubt that he (Francisco) will be at the top. So, to avoid having to face my brother, I'm going to the roosters, as planned”, he concluded.

PUBLICITY:

With the status of a new Ultimate star and full of morale with Dana White, Figueiredo has been the organization's champion since July. At the end of last season, the man from Pará made history by becoming the first athlete to defend a belt in 21 days.
