McGregor predicts outcome of fight against Poirier at UFC 257: 'I'm going to knock him out in 60 seconds'

Irish and American rematch in the main attraction of UFC 257, which takes place on January 24th

With a provocative style, it is common to see Conor McGregor making predictions with the results of their fights before they even happen. And for the revenge against Dustin poirier, UFC 257, it was no different. In a statement to theCountdown', released by the UFC on its social networks, the Irishman praised the North American, but stated that he will take him down in 60 seconds.

“I like Dustin (Poirier). I think he's a good fighter, you know? But he's still beneath me. I will knock him out in 60 seconds”, said the former featherweight (up to 65,8 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion.

The first fight between McGregor and Poirier took place in September 2014, at UFC 178. At the time, the fight was in the featherweight category (up to 65.7kg) and ended with the 'Notório' knocking out in the first round. Now, the athletes are contenders for the lightweight belt, which features the Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov as champion, despite having announced his retirement after the victory against Justin gaethje, in October 2020.

O UFC 257 will be held on January 23rd, at Etihad Arena from 'Fight Island', in Abu Dhabi. In addition to Conor McGregor e Dustin poirier in the main attraction, there will be the debut of former Bellator star, Michael chandler, against Dan Hooker.
