It was already expected that Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez would receive a title shot when he confirmed his transfer to the UFC, but another fighter at the event – acquired by Zuffa in 2011 – should also have this opportunity. During an interview given after UFC 155, Dana White seemed quite pleased with the arrival of Daniel Cormier (photo), who recently won the title of grand prix of the Strikeforce heavyweights. “He’s going to shake up the heavyweight or light heavyweight division,” said the UFC president. White also stated that Cormier could be the next fighter to challenge Jon Jones – if he wins Chael Sonnen in April.

White's words differ from those said by Cormier himself, who a few days ago stated that his UFC debut should be against Frank mir. This fight was supposed to take place in January for Strikeforce, but was canceled due to an injury suffered by Mir. Dana White's comment even casts doubt on the already defined category in which Daniel Cormier would fight.
