In the fight against Niko Price, in May, by UFC, Vicente Luque fought a real battle against his rival. During three rounds, the welterweights (under 77kg) accepted the frank exchange and what was seen at the end of the confrontation was the North American's face very hurt. The Brazilian won by knockout, after a medical interruption.

2) Jedrzejczyk pays the price for the 'war' with Zhang

Protagonist of one of the best fights of 2020, the former strawweight champion (up to 52,1kg.), Joanna Jedrzejczyk paid a high price for the great battle experienced against the current leader of the group, Weili Zhang. In the co-main event of UFC 248, the Polish woman, who was trying to regain her old belt, ended up being unsuccessful and left the octagon with her face completely disfigured, victim of attacks by the Chinese woman, who kept the title in the unanimous decision of the judges.

4) Sakai feels Overeem's strength

One of the UFC's heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) promises, Augusto Sakai ended up feeling the strength of veteran Alistair Overeem's fists. In his first main fight with Ultimate gloves, in September, the Curitiba native ended up falling victim to the Dutchman's experience and succumbed with a hard knockout in the fifth round. After the confrontation, the man from Paraná was left with a deep cut on his forehead, a result of his opponent's fists and elbows.

5) It was 'unintentional'

In one of the editions of 'Dana White's Contender Series', a program that gives fighters the opportunity to sign professional contracts with the UFC, Dustin Stoltzfus e joe pyfer they had a curious moment. In the first round of the clash held at middleweight (up to 83,9kg), Pyfer ended up suffering an unfortunate injury when he landed badly in a takedown by his opponent.. In the video (see below), it is possible to see the moment when the fighter's right arm leaves its place. Realizing the gravity, the referee interrupted the confrontation and, scared, Dustin even apologized to his professional partner.

6) Dangerous injury with illegal strike in LFA

On July 22, at LFA 84, a scene impressed MMA fans. In addition to a dangerous injury, an athlete put his opponent at risk after delivering an illegal knee. In the confrontation against Shawn West, Boston Salmon got the worst of it. In the position of three supports, the athlete ended up surprised by a knee from his opponent, which led to an immediate knockout.. After medical evaluation, it was confirmed by the Boston businessman that the athlete suffered a fracture in the orbital bone. Days later, the fighter released an image of his visibly disfigured face.

7) Ferguson: man from another world

Although he was defeated in his most recent fight, Tony Ferguson He once again showed signs that he may not be of this world. In the fight against Charles of the Bronx, in which he was dominated for practically 15 minutes, the North American showed a true test of endurance and courage. At the end of the first round, the 'Bicho Papão' was caught in a tight armbar by the Brazilian, but refused to tap, having his arm bent and about to break. Ferguson's luck was to be saved by the bell.

8) 'Earless': Part 1

In 2020, some events were marked by athletes who suffered ear injuries to the point where they almost detached from the body. Starting with Ultimate, specifically in UFC Las Vegas 13. In the confrontation against Max griffin, Ramiz Brahimaj He ended up suffering an injury as a result of his opponent's attacks. Upon noticing Ramiz's ear 'hanging', the referee immediately interrupted the confrontation.

9) 'Earless': Part 2
Taura 10, held at the end of October, also featured moments of tension. In the clash against Brazilian Ary Farias, Johnny Campbell ended up 'without an ear' in the confrontation, which ended after just 25 seconds. The injury (see below) happened after a combination of punches thrown by Farias, which ended up taking his rival to the ground. Upon realizing the severity, the referee stopped the fight.

10) 'Earless': Part 3

For FEN (Fight Exclusive Night) 31, held at the end of November, Lukasz Borowski ended up being another victim of the 'curse of the ear'. The athlete exchanged forces with Pawel Trybala and, after suffering a well-aimed attack, suffered an injury that forced the referee to interrupt the duel. The victim, at first, showed a lot of irritation with the situation, even making an obscene gesture towards his rival.
