Covington says he still wants to fight Masvidal and teases: 'He's hiding'

The fighters were teammates on 'American Top Team' but became rivals over time

The former interim UFC welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg), Colby covington, look at Jorge masvidal to be your next opponent. The fighters, who have trained together in the past, are now linked to a possible duel for 2021. In an interview with 'Submission Radio', the North American states that he has already verbally agreed to the fight, but claims that his rival 'is running away' .

“I'm ready to fight. I gave them my verbal agreement and I am a man of my word. I'm going to show up and do what I do best, which is win and fight hard and put on a show for the fans around the world. (…), he knows how this fight will play out and he doesn’t want to embarrass himself to the world,” said Covington.

Colby didn't stop provoking his disaffection. According to him, Jorge masvidal he is running away from the fight and will lose all credibility as a 'king' if he is defeated.

"Where is him now? He is completely silent. I think he will show the truth to the fans and lose all the street credibility he gained from being a street king and fighter,” he concluded.

The fighters were teammates on 'American Top Team' and had a friendly relationship until they fell out a few years ago. Thus, they began to become declared rivals, in addition to publicly threatening each other.

Colby covington comes from a victory in Ultimate against the former champion Tyron woodley, UFC Las Vegas 11, which occurred in September 2020. Now Jorge masvidal was defeated in his last fight for the belt against Kamaru Usman, UFC 245in December 2019.
