Ultimate is close to making the long-awaited rematch for the heavyweight belt (up to 120,2kg) official. The company negotiates the duel between the champion, Stipe Miocic, and the challenger, Francis Ngannou, for March 2021. The winner must welcome Jon Jones the heavyweight category. The information was disclosed by a reporter from 'ESPN', Ariel Helwani.

“The UFC wants Stipe Miocic defend the heavyweight title against Francis Ngannou in March (probably in UFC 259, on March 06). It's definitely what the promotion wants. In a perfect world, Ultimate would like the winner of this fight to defend the belt against (Jon) Jones in the summer,” said Helwani.
If the meeting is scheduled, Miocic, 38, will try to defend his title for the fourth time. In his last fight, in UFC 252 in August 2020, won Daniel Cormier in the trilogy and closed the history of rivalry between the two with two triumphs.
Francis has four knockouts in his appearances, which, combined, were finished in 2m02s. The list includes former division champions Cain Velásquez and junior gypsy. His last fight took place in May 2020, when he knocked out Jairzinho Rozenstruik in just 20 seconds.
In its turn, Jon Jones I had already said that I would like to switch to heavyweight in the past and, in the end, it must be the natural path. The North American hasn't fought since February 2020. On that occasion, he won the UFC 247 against Dominick reyes, in the unanimous decision of the judges, in a fight valid for the light heavyweight title.
Miocic x Ngannou dueled for the first time at UFC 220, which took place in January 2018. On that occasion, Miocic managed to neutralize Ngannou's game and emerged victorious in the judges' unanimous decision.
