Covid-19 has already infected more than 76 million people around the world and claimed almost 1.7 million lives. And, right now, a UFC pioneer is in a delicate situation. North American Paul Varelans, 51, is in a medically induced coma in the USA and needs the help of respirators to stay alive.

The revelation of the health problem faced by Varelans was revealed by his friend, Shane Viens, in a Facebook post.
“You may know that he is very sick, but what you don't know is that since Tuesday he has been in a medically induced coma in the ICU at Emory Midtown Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He doesn't breathe on his own. They put the big guy on a respirator. I’m full of worry”, wrote the friend (see the full post below).
Paul Varelans
The 2.03m giant has a professional record of nine wins and nine losses. He was in action in the UFC 7 no-weight limit tournament in 1995. He won two fights on the same night and reached the final against Brazilian Marco Ruas, where he was knocked out with a series of leg kicks from the American.
In addition to Marco Ruas, Paul Varelans faced another Brazilian legend. At 'Brazil Open 97', the North American was defeated by Carlão Barreto, also by knockout
