Back in the octagon two months after the tough defeat he suffered against Cory Sandhagen, Marlon moraes just think about recovery. This Saturday (19), the Brazilian will exchange forces against Rob font and expects a great performance to return to the spotlight for a future bantamweight belt fight (up to 61,2kg). In an interview with ‘Combate’, the Friborg native spoke about his expectations for the clash.

“My goal is to win this fight. I'm going to face a good opponent, a guy who brings a game that I have to get in there at my best and play a perfect game to win. I'm focused on that, on getting there on Saturday and showing that I'm really better than him. Then we'll see what will happen. Honestly, my dream is to stay active and do what I did, fight every three months, that's what I like, I like being in the gym and fighting. I really don't like these long times without a fight. Fight with Rob font It will open many doors for me for other fights, for other guys in the rankings. I can't wait for Saturday to fight and book a new one (…). I’m a dreamer, I’ll never stop believing in my potential, I’ll go all the way,” said the Brazilian.

After the negative result in October, Marlon, shortly after the setback, posted on his social networks that he would return to action in December. No sooner said than done. The athlete was confirmed on the last card of the year, but the opponent ended up not being a personal choice, as he reveals.

“The name that appeared was his and, as I always do, I didn’t hesitate. I'm a UFC employee. I think that the fights they propose, I have to accept, and I did. I will prepare myself in the best way possible to get here and leave with this victory,” he said.

Although he is facing an opponent who currently ranks in 11th place, Moraes shows respect for his rival. The Brazilian cited his opponent's qualities, but believes he has the weapons to overcome the weekend's objective.

“He’s a complete guy. He has victories by submission, by knockout, but he prefers to fight standing up, in boxing, at his distance, and that's the game, not respecting his distance, bringing him into my game, being faster and better than him standing up. . If you have the opportunity, also use my grapple, not only to define the fight, but also to mix it up. It’s an MMA fight and we have to get in there to do everything,” he concluded.

At 32 years old, Marlon is now number three in the ranking of the group led by Petr yan. The athlete has 31 appearances as a professional in MMA, with 23 wins, seven losses and one draw. Font, 33, has 17 positive results and four negative results in 22 fights.
