One of Bellator's newest stars, Anthony Johnson stated that he was unaware of an agreement to face Yoel romero by the organization. After being informed that the Cuban had declared to the 'ESPN' who was close to confirming his fight against his former UFC teammate, 'Rumble' denied it, but did not oppose a future agreement between the parties.

“Man, nobody said anything to me. You know me, I don't pick fighters. I let them come to me. If it makes sense, I accept it, if not, what's the point?”, said Anthony, to 'ESPN'.

Even stating that the information given by Romero does not match reality – so far -, Johnson understands that the fight between the two could generate a lot of engagement from MMA fans. In this way, the North American stated that he would have nothing against sharing the circular cage with the Cuban.

“If Yoel says he's 90% right, I don't know where he gets the information from, because nobody contacted me. Maybe it’s a way to gently challenge myself. You know me, I always respect my opponents, regardless of who they are. Let’s roll the dice and see what happens”, he concluded.

Former challenger for the UFC light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.), Anthony has not been presenting since 2017, when he ended up defeated by Daniel Cormier. Since last year, the fighter has been flirting with returning to the sport. In 2020, Johnson ended up surprising. When many thought his return would be for Ultimate, the athlete agreed to transfer to Bellator.

Romero, who last fought in March, for the UFC middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg), was released a few weeks ago by the company. The athlete headed a list of dismissals that, according to Dana White, will include around 60 fighters.
