Despite a possibly broken nose, Mackenzie dern climbed another step in his trajectory in Ultimate. Multi-time jiu-jitsu champion, the Brazilian-American underwent an impressive test of fire in the battle against Virna jandiroba No. UFC 256. With her arm raised at the end, after the judges' unanimous decision, the strawweight (up to 52,1kg) spoke about her plans for next year.

“(I want) to fight someone higher ranked than me. This will be my first focus and fight as many times as possible. This criterion, which will make a change in my ranking and bring me closer to the belt. I'm going to train my striking a lot, because the coach (Jason) Parillo lives in California (USA) and I'm going to study and watch my fight. I study a lot the opponents in the top 10. I'm eager to know what opportunity will come my way”, said Dern, in a press conference after the show.
The duel between Mackenzie and Jandiroba drew attention not because it was one of the busiest of the event, but also because it tested the standing fight of two specialists in the 'gentle art'. For almost 15 minutes, the Brazilian-American and Virna exchanged punches and kicks in a duel that was one of the candidates for 'Fight of the Night'.
On his social networks, Dern also celebrated the good moment. In a photo alongside her father, Megaton Dias and Parillo, the fighter appeared eager for her next commitment.
“Three victories in six and a half months. Each fight made me evolve in different aspects. Thank you to everyone who was part of these victories and also for your support. Looking forward to 2021”, Mackenzie wrote on her Instagram account.
