If most MMA enthusiasts were excited about the show starring Deiveson Figueiredo e Brandon Moreno, UFC 256, a specific person may not have been so joyful: cody garbrandt. Upon realizing the success of the confrontation and understanding that the Brazilian must have a rematch against the Mexican in 2021, the North American looked for a 'plan b' for his next commitment, and received a refusal.

"Henry Cejudo, it looks like we will fight on March 6th. Choose the division”, wrote Cody, on his Twitter account.

Retired since he crashed Dominick Cruz, in May, and defended his old bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg.), Henry didn't take long to respond to his compatriot. Quick and low, 'Triple C' rejected the proposal, believing that he had nothing to gain by exchanging forces against Garbrandt.

“Nice try, Cody. But you know that, if I come back, it will be for the gold (belt)”, replied Cejudo.

In 2020, Garbrandt, who held the bantamweight title between 2016 and 2017, won again after a negative streak of three clashes. The brutal triumph over Raphael Assunção, in July, made the UFC choose to select the North American to start in the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg.) and face Deiveson for the belt in the UFC 255.

Before the duel, however, Garbrandt ended up getting injured and gave way to Alex Perez. Afterwards, Deiveson was chosen to face Brandon Moreno and, after one of the best fights of the year, the Brazilian and the Mexican should be placed face to face again at some point in 2021. Thus, Cody must decide whether to return to bantamweight or wait for the Brazilian for the dreamed confrontation.
