José Aldo reveals his intention to win three UFC belts: “I want to make history”

Undisputed champion of the UFC featherweight category (up to 66 kg.) and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, José Aldo still want more. The Brazilian, who has never hidden his desire to fight in the lightweight category (up to 70 kg), is now aiming for greater heights and wants to be the first man in history to win three UFC belts.

The man from Manaus, based in Rio de Janeiro, revealed, in an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie, that he dreams of holding the titles in the bantamweight (up to 61 kg.), featherweight and lightweight categories at the same time.

“It’s a dream of mine to win three titles. No one has broken this record yet. Dedé (Pederneiras, coach) knows that's my goal, but he controls my career and everything depends on him. I hope to achieve this someday. I would like to make history,” he said. José Aldo.

However, before thinking about winning other titles, Aldo has a commitment in the octagon. He faces Frankie Edgar, former lightweight champion, at UFC 156, February 2nd. For the Brazilian, the test against an athlete from the top division could be the gateway to changing weight.

“It depends on this fight against Edgar. My coach doesn't think I'm ready to move up yet. When he thinks I'm ready, I have that intention. If I win Frankie Edgar, I’m sure I can prove that I can fight in the top category”, added the Brazilian.
