The Brazilian junior gypsy is scheduled to defend the heavyweight belt, next Saturday (29), against Cain Velazquez. But the athlete from Santa Catarina suffered a big scare before the contest even started. The champion, who was supposed to fly to the United States on Monday night (24), ended up missing his flight due to a series of delays by the airline.
Cigano was expected to arrive in the United States this Tuesday (25), but the connection between Salvador and São Paulo forced the departure to Las Vegas to be postponed.
“I am outraged. This is absurd. Due to the company's whim, the week starts off badly for me. It would be simple to let it go if there wasn't such an important fight on Saturday. TAM lied that the airport was closed to customers and, for a reason I still don't know, it made my life complicated. TAM ruined my trip. It took me six hours to fly from Salvador to São Paulo and I missed my flight to Vegas. Total lack of respect”, the Santa Catarina native posted on his Twitter account.
Despite the inconvenience, Cigano is expected to set foot on American soil on the morning of the 26th, just over three days before the dispute.
