MMA fighter who faced Cigano dies of heart attack

The world of MMA is in mourning. Heavyweight Eduardo Maiorino died this Sunday afternoon (23), in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, victim of a heart attack. The fighter was 33 years old.

Maiorino's body is at Imol (Legal Medical and Dental Institute) in the capital for an autopsy to be carried out. The burial will take place this Monday, at the Parque de Campo Grande cemetery.

Eduardo had 11 professional fights in MMA, with three wins and eight losses. He has faced several well-known names in the sport such as Junior Gypsy (at Minotauro Fights 5, in 2006), Rafael Feijão (at Pantanal Combat, in 2006), and the Italian Alessio Sakara (at Real Fight 1, in 2004), all UFC or Strikeforce athletes. His last fight was against Gerônimo Mondragon, also an Ultimate athlete, in May this year, when he was knocked out 50 seconds into the first round at Max Fight 13.
