The end of Strikeforce is scheduled for the beginning of 2013, with the event scheduled for January 12th. But athletes with contracts in place are already starting to plan their debut in the UFC, the organization that bought Strikeforce in 2010.
The heavy weight Daniel Cormier, Strikeforce heavyweight GP champion, despite having a fight scheduled against Dion Staring on his farewell show, revealed that his Ultimate debut will take place in 2013 and has already revealed his opponent: Frank mir.
“Fighting Mir is what I want. We have some unfinished business. So hopefully I get through this fight with Dion, hopefully I don't get hurt, and then I can win the fight and move on to Frank. (…) My first fight in the UFC will be against Frank mir, regardless of what happens,” Cormier told the “MMA Fighting” website.
Despite the interest in facing Frank mir, the North American would accept the opponent's change if he were to face the Brazilian junior gypsy, for the heavyweight category belt.
“If they had offered this fight, there would have been no hesitation when signing the contract. I would do it. I think it's a good fight... As I'm preparing for my fight with Dion, I'm preparing for Junior dos Santos, I'm preparing for Jon Jones, I’m always preparing for the best guy,” he added.
