“Even I was taken by surprise too, I didn’t expect it. I fought in June, then I had a knee injury and I thought I was going to have surgery, but I didn't. I operated on the shoulder, and everything was fine. A month and a half ago, they (UFC) sent an email to my manager asking how my recovery was going, if I was ok and if I could fight. My manager said no, that I was in the final stretch of recovery and that there was still a bit to go. They said: 'okay', and we had no further contact. When it was a week ago, they sent an email to my manager and said that several fighters would be cut, I don't know exactly how many, and I was on that list, and that unfortunately they would cancel my contract so that I would be a free agent for look for another organization. And that was basically it”, confessed the native.

A veteran of the company, with more than 15 fights, Formiga says he has no regrets about the company. On the contrary. Even though he was surprised by the news, the Brazilian shows gratitude for everything he experienced in eight years in the UFC.

“The UFC was very good in my career, we can never spit on the dish we eat or have eaten. It was of great value to me, even though at times I didn't feel fully valued at the event. Of course, I was going through a bad time in the UFC, but I had very good moments, when I scored three, four victories in a row, and even beat fighters who fought for the title and I didn't fight”, he said.

With confidence in his work, Jussier doesn't want to sit still. The fighter stated that he will look for a new organization to carry out his work and pointed out some possibilities.

“Now I will really see my value, where I can fight. Certainly, I must have many doors where I can fight, both in ONE, in Asia, and in Bellator, Brave, wherever. I'm calm about that (…). I'm already much better, I had a good head when I received the news, we know that everything in life has a beginning, a middle and an end, so at some point it would come to an end for me in the UFC, I didn't know when, but I knew it. I have already spoken to my manager (businessman) and my headcoach (coach), and they are already seeing options for me. I've already received a small proposal for a GP at Brave, and we have two more proposals, and we'll see what we can fit together”, he concluded.
