After putting on another show on Bellator's circular cage and defending his featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg), Patrick Pitbull It's pure trust. When beating a teammate Conor McGregor, Pedro Carvalho, with a knockout in the first round, the Brazilian asserted his reputation as a legend of the organization and commented on the success of his last performance.

“He (Pedro) was kind of a copy of what McGregor did at the beginning of his UFC career. He fought well and reached a title shot. But there is one detail: 'He is not Conor McGregor and I'm not José Aldo. That's when it got bad for him,” said the native of Rio Grande do Norte, in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

Happy with the result, Patrício, in addition to maintaining his position as champion, managed to silence Carvalho's technicians. Before the confrontation, the coaches were betting that the Portuguese would make history by defeating the biggest name in Bellator's history, something similar to what happened between Aldo and McGregor, in 2015, for the UFC.

“His coaches always said he was skilled – or maybe even more skilled – than Conor. They bet heavily on him and it ended like that. He thought he would be like Conor, promote the fight and knock out the champion quickly, but he had a negative result instead. He got knocked out and learned a lesson,” he said.

Even with the comparisons, Pitbull does not minimize Conor's talent, who is one of the biggest phenomenons in recent MMA history. With that in mind, the Brazilian continues to dream of a superfight against the Irishman in a crossover event between Bellator and UFC.

“I think anything is possible if the fans want it. If someone big like Conor McGregor support the idea, it happens. I've already heard (John) Kavanagh (the Irishman's coach) say that one of his dreams is to see me face McGregor. He said after I defeated Pedro. It would be like a payback for him. I’m open,” he concluded.
