"I am happy. I was negotiating with some organizations. Ali Abdelaziz helped me a lot. I signed with the PFL because there was a season, a lot of fights and it was a good deal. I know this organization is growing a lot. I fought for a long time and my dream was always to fight more than once in a night. In jiu-jitsu, it's different. I love this idea of winning once and fighting again. It's like a warm-up. At the gym, I do five, seven, ten five-minute rounds, with different partners. I want to send a message to the PFL heavyweights: there are good fighters, but be careful, because we'll see you soon. I’m coming and I want the belt,” said Werdum.

Even at his advanced age, Werdum believes he still has a few more years of activity and that he has the quality to be a champion at this stage of his career.

“I have two, three more years in MMA. I'm 43 years old, but I feel young, 25 years old. The face doesn't say it, but I'm happy. I want another belt and the PFL one is very nice. In 2021, I want to fight four to five times. Before, it was one or two and I want more. I want to take advantage of this moment, because it is very difficult for fighters to stop. Can you imagine being a champion at an advanced age? I think I can do it. After that, ok, I’ll stop”, he concluded.
