Even retired, Khabib Nurmagomedov continues to be tested by USADA: 'It was the 47th time'

Record may indicate that the former UFC lightweight champion can return to fight and fulfill his late father's dream

Khabib Nurmagomedov He is not enjoying his retirement as he should, much less having peace of mind in his post-fight phase. The feared Russian, who surprised by bringing forward his farewell to MMA by finishing Justin gaethje, in the second round, in October 2020, remains on the radar of USADA, the agency that monitors the issue of doping in sport.

On his social networks, the former UFC lightweight champion (70,3kg) posted a photo of the exact moment he received the visit from the organization and seemed not to have liked it very much, as this was the 47th time he was tested.

“This was the 47th time I have been tested by USADA since 2015. Just think about that number,” Khabib posted on his Instagram.

The appearance of USADA in MMA made the sport much cleaner, safer and gave it greater credibility. Not surprisingly, many athletes failed their exams, were caught using banned substances, were sidelined as punishment and, when they returned to action, they were no longer the same.

However, the situation was special, because, when tested, everything indicated that Khabib Nurmagomedov can fight again. The former lightweight champion retired undefeated, with 29 wins, but his father, Abdulmanap's, wish was always to see his son end his career with a 30-0 record and face the legendary Georges St-Pierre in your farewell. Dana White, president of the UFC, would also like to count on the Russian for longer and has already informed that he will do everything he can to convince Khabib and hold this super fight.
