After having his last fight for the UFC, Fabricio Werdum was free on the market. One of the greatest Brazilian representatives in the history of MMA, the gaucho even negotiated his transfer to Bellator, however, the agreement went cold and, now, the athlete seems to have other plans. The PFL could be the destiny of 'Vai Cavalo'. In an interview with 'Combate, the former Ultimate champion spoke about the subject.

“I am aware that my manager (Ali Abdelaziz) is talking to the 'Professional Fighters League' (PFL) and I can enter the championship. I don't know if it's very well known in Brazil, but it's a tournament where you enter and have four fights. If you win them all, you become the champion and win a prize of US$1 million (approximately R$5,4 million), in addition to the scholarship. So, this interests me a lot”, said the gaucho.

After leaving the UFC, Fabrício stated that he was in advanced talks with Scott Coker, with whom he said he had a great relationship. The idea was to promote a historic rematch between the Brazilian and the legendary Fedor Emelianenko, repeating the confrontation held in 2010, by 'Strikeforce'. The proposal, however, does not seem to have seduced the Russian, who seemed indifferent to the challenge.

“I didn't sign with them because Bellator wanted me to do a rematch with Fedor in my first fight with them. I respect Fedor a lot. I can't say he doesn't want the fight, but there were no negotiations with him. (…) Bellator wanted it to be my first fight to make an initial impact and then close it with four or five more fights in the contract”, he concluded.

Fabrício performed for the last time in July, when he finished Alexander Gustafson in the first round, in the Swede's UFC heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) debut. The duel marked the last fight in the Brazilian's contract with the organization. After the clash, Werdum chose not to renew with the company.
