MMA is a cruel, violent combat sport that favors young athletes, but there are exceptions. Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, Daniel Cormier, Yoel romero, among others, were successful even at an advanced age and Glover Teixeira is also part of the select team. The Brazilian will fight Thiago Marreta, UFC Las Vegas 13, an event that will be held this Saturday (7), in the USA, and commented on the excellent phase he is going through.
At the pre-show press conference, Glover explained the secret to continuing to be successful after the age of 40, and revealed that he had to change his habits to turn his career around. Furthermore, the Minas Gerais native mentioned important points that all athletes should follow.

“MMA is growing and getting better. Before, I was exaggerating. I drank a lot of cachaça and ate a lot of barbecue. I had to change my habits. I'm better now than I was when I was 37. I'm 41 and this could be my last chance to be UFC champion. This is my dream and I never gave up. I had ups and downs, but I always believed in myself. Fighters have to stay focused, never give up, learn from mistakes and keep training. Who doesn’t want to hang the UFC belt on the wall one day?” said Glover.
Currently, Glover Teixeira, 41 years old, is in third place in the light heavyweight (93kg) ranking. The veteran won four consecutive fights, three of which were via the fast track, and is looking to have a new opportunity to be the category's challenger. It's worth remembering that the Brazilian fought for the belt in 2014 and, on that occasion, was defeated by Jon Jones.
