Bisping (photo) promises to make Belfort his punching bag in Brazil.
Just like it did in 2012, Ultimate will open the 2013 season in Brazil. The event, which will be held on January 19th, in São Paulo, features a duel between middleweights Michael Bisping e Vitor belfort as the main attraction. And the English athlete, who aims for a victory to consolidate himself as a challenger for the Anderson Silva, promises to frustrate the Tupiniquim fans in the confrontation against the Brazilian athlete.
Bisping, who has never hidden his obsession with the UFC title, revealed that he still isn't thinking about a possible confrontation against Anderson Silva, guarantees that his focus is on Belfort, but provokes the Brazilian, saying that he will beat him in his country.
“Far be it from me to think about anything other than the fight against Vitor. I want this fight to be very important, and I know I will have to do my best in it. It won't be easy, we will fight in Brazil. Vitor hits very hard. But I think I'm going to be a storm, and he'll be my punching bag”, said Michael, in an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting.

The English athlete also complained about Anderson's few title defenses and once again asked for an interim title fight between him and Belfort. For Bisping, the creation of an interim belt would help to move the category forward, as Anderson also fights in light heavyweight and aims for a duel of champions against Georges St Pierre in a combined weight.
“About a fight against Anderson Silva, I never wanted an easy path to the belt. But his last fight was at light heavyweight, and his next one will probably be at combined weight (against St. Pierre). When will he fight for middleweight? What will happen if he gets injured and has to be out for a while? All this time will have passed, and the main athletes in the category will have been left aside,” he said.

“We all want to be world champions one day because we work hard and sacrifice for it. Nothing happens if Anderson doesn't defend his belt. There should be a fight for an interim belt. With Weidman out for some time, I think Vitor and I should fight for the interim belt. Whoever conquers it must defend it. This would move the category, which is more stagnant than ever because its champion is not defending his belt”, added Bisping, who made a point of highlighting that if he is selected to face Anderson he will seek the attack against the champion.
“If Anderson wants to defend his belt against the winner of my fight against Vitor, great. I'm going to go after him with everything. Is what I want. But if he were to fight Georges St-Pierre or Jon Jones, something will need to be done in the middleweight category”, he concluded.
