“There’s always something we can do, if people want. If it's pragmatic enough, I'd love to (face Holyfield)”, said the boxer, in conversation with announcer Jim Gray.
At 54 years old, the former world champion has shown great commitment to resuming his career, even if it is for exhibition matches. On November 28, Tyson will end a hiatus of more than 15 years to face the popular Roy Jones Jr., in the United States.
With an extensive list of opponents throughout his career, it was with Holyfield that Mike had his biggest rivalry in the sport. The two faced each other on two occasions, one in 1996 and the other in 1997. The duel represented a dispute for the WBA heavyweight belt. At the time, Tyson held the title and ended up losing the title of champion to his rival.
The second meeting between Tyson and Holyfield went down in history as one of the most memorable moments in boxing. At the time, Tyson, who was trying to regain the belt, ended up disqualified after biting and literally ripping off a piece of his opponent's ear.
While Mike already has a date to return to the ring, Evander, 58, is also rehearsing his return to boxing. The boxer had been retired since May 2011 and has been attracting the attention of fans with his training to get in shape.
This week, Holyfield signaled positively about re-editing the 1996 and 1997 duels. On his Instagram account, the veteran also suggested the confrontation.
