Bruce Buffer is out and former WEC announcer will be his replacement at UFC on FX 6

Bruce Buffer will miss UFC on FX 6 in Australia

One of the most notable characters in the history of Ultimate will be left out of UFC on FX 6, an event that is scheduled to take place on December 14th, in Australia. Bruce Buffer, known as “the voice of the octagon”, will not be announcing the fights as just a few hours later the TUF 16 Finale takes place – the big decision of the 16th edition of the Ultimate reality show.

Joe Martinez will make his octagon debut replacing Buffer

The person chosen to replace Buffer is Joe Martinez, former announcer for the WEC event, an event absorbed by the UFC in 2011. He will make his debut in the Octagon.

“It’s certainly something important. I said years ago that it was a big goal of mine to announce a UFC event,” said Martinez, who preached respect to Buffer and assured that he does not arrive with the intention of taking his job.

“All my respect for Bruce. It's his job, and I'm more than happy to fill in for him and play his role for a night. The opportunity was there, and I'm happy to be who they called to do it,” added Joe.

UFC on FX 6 will be the first Ultimate event without Buffer's voice since UFC 13 in May 1997.
