Brazilian Pedro Guedes won the bronze medal in the lightweight category (up to 73 kg) at the Jigoro Kano Cup, held in Japan. To obtain the award, he had to overcome Japanese Yusuke Kanamuru in the third place dispute. The victory only came on the golden score by one koka.
This Sunday (9/12) Luciano Correa (-100kg), João Gabriel Schillitler (+100kg), Érika Miranda (-52kg) and Danielle Zangrando (-57kg) will fight.
With the result, Pedro joins a select group of medalists. The bronze won this Saturday was the seventh Brazilian medal in the history of the Jigoro Kano Cup. Henrique Guimarães and Fulvio Myata were bronze in 1996, Sérgio Pessoa gold in 1986 and Douglas Vieira, Aurélio Miguel and Rogério Cherobim bronze in 1986.
