The UFC has dealt with several injuries to its athletes in recent months. In most cases, some fighters refused to replace the injured due to the lack of preparation time. However, Dana White, president of the organization, believes that he has found a way to solve this problem. The director has decided that he will make public all fight refusals that his athletes make.
“If you refuse fights, I will tell you that this happened. You can even turn down a fight, but at least you'll have to admit that you did it,” White told the North American website MMA Mania. The top hat has even revealed the first athlete to refuse a duel within the UFC.
The Frenchman Cheick Kongo did not agree to face Roy Nelson in the final of TUF 16, after the injury to Shane carwin.
“He turned down a fight. It doesn't matter if the offer was made long or short in advance. He refused to fight,” said White, who was soon responded to by Kongo on Twitter.
“I did not refuse to face Roy Nelson. I refused to face him with little preparation time. It’s not the same thing”, the fighter posted on the microblog.
