Less than a week from UFC 254, which takes place this Saturday (24), in Abu Dhabi, the president of Ultimate, Dana White, does not hide his expectations for the show. According to the boss, there is a real possibility that the event will make history this weekend, surpassing the mark of 'Khabib x Conor', in 2018, which sold 2,4 million pay-per-views.

“Accounting is off the charts at the moment. The tendency is for it to be the biggest fight we've ever had”, said the 'big boss', in an interview with 'TMZ Sports'.

To make history again and surpass the record achieved at UFC 229, White has a strong collaborator: Khabib Nurmagomedov. One of the protagonists of the most watched event in the history of MMA, the Russian brings with him a popularity worthy of a champion.

This Saturday, the athlete returns to the Octagon after more than a year and will try to unify his lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg) against the dangerous Justin gaethje, owner of the interim title. If he wins, the 'Eagle' will reach his 29th career achievement and maintain his perfect record within the sport.

On the other side, however, Khabib will have a strong opponent. In the fight that won him the interim belt, Gaethje shocked the world by running over the feared Tony Ferguson, in May. At the time, the North American overcame his suspicions and took no notice of one of the best athletes in the division in recent years.

In the clash against McGregor, the athletes achieved astronomical numbers in pay-per-view sales given the rivalry maintained between the two, in addition to the technical quality of the fighters. In a calculation made by 'TMZ', with a package sold at US$65, the total accumulated value would be US$156 million (around R$872 million), taking into account only transmission on a pay channel.
