It seems impossible to forget UFC 253 and its consequences. The reason itself is not even the great performance of Israel adesanya before Paulo borrachinha but rather the 'argued' controversy about his rival. If the gesture was widely discussed among MMA fans, it also generated comments among the fighters themselves and members of the press. Daniel Cormier was the most recent name to give his opinion on the episode.

At an organization press conference, held in Abu Dhabi, the former fighter and current commentator for ESPN American condemned the stance of the middleweight champion (83,9kg), but was not surprised, because he knows that the Nigerian likes to 'cause'. 'DC' went further and confessed that he was bothered by the continuous attacks made by the winner.

“The gesture was crazy! I've never seen anything like this before, but Adesanya is it. He wants to mark his territory. I'm not surprised by anything he does. Adesanya, leave Paulo alone! You keep messing with the guy, but he's dead! He arrives! Adesanya continues to provoke, when Paulo is already down. Currently, these fighters are different. Usually, when a fighter wins, he moves on, but Adesanya is messing with Paulo so much, it makes me feel bad. When Paul responded, it got even worse. Stop!” said Cormier.

If Cormier defended the Brazilian regarding the attacks made by his rival, he also does not agree with his request to fight for the middleweight belt again.

“What Adesanya did to Paulo was as disrespectful as possible. That's why I ask you to leave him alone. He finished! He can't do anything else. This made me feel bad, because he doesn't deserve to suffer so many attacks. It was horrible! Adesanya left Paulo delirious! I like him, but it doesn't make sense to tell Adesanya to sign the contract. What contract? There's no contract, Paulo! Go fight someone and just accept it,” he concluded.

When shining in UFC 253, Israel adesanya has already confessed to having his eye on the winner of the fight between Robert whittaker e Jared Cannonier, which will take place in edition number 254. However, the rivalry with Jon Jones continues to grow and makes the former light heavyweight champion (93kg) lead the race to be the next opponent of the number one middleweight.
