The first edition of the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) debuted on the world stage on the right foot! The event, which took place on Saturday night (03), in Las Vegas, in the United States, featured big stars, good fights and pleased the fans present at the Planet Hollywood Hotel. With four Brazilians on the fight program, the country left the cage with two wins and two losses. Gesias Cavalcante needed just over a minute to finish TJ O'Brien and Marlon moraes surprised favorite Miguel Torres by beating the former WEC champion in a split decision from the judges, while, Ronys Torres and Gregor Gracie were surpassed by Brian Cobb and Tyson Steele, respectively.
In the main fight of the night, Andrei Arlovski proved his favoritism and defeated Devin Cole by technical knockout in the first round. The fight had a more truncated start, with the fighters trying to gain positions in the clinch, but the former UFC champion managed to adjust his game and take his opponent to the ground in just over a few minutes of fighting.
Marlon beats Torres
Marlon moraes was the biggest Brazilian highlight on the show. Considered an underdog, the winger from Nova Friburgo, in Rio de Janeiro, was superior in most of the fight, with powerful kicks and counterattacks. Marlon took down Torres in every round and, with victory apparently assured in the third, he was more conservative. This almost cost him the fight, as one of the referees scored it 29-28 for Torres, but the other two ruled the Brazilian won (30-27 and 29-28).
