“I want war. I've been training to fight for seven months, I'm hungry to fight. I'm a guy who was born to be a warrior. My father already named me Markus, and Markus means 'God of war'. Inside, you will see war”, said the confident São Paulo native.

At the weekend, the Brazilian will be responsible for welcoming Du Plessis to Ultimate. Even though he is an opponent little known by the organization's fans, Maluko showed that he has studied his opponent and guarantees that he will not be surprised in the duel.

“If you take a complete opponent, who has everything, I was already training for him. I had been training for a guy who was a striker, then for a grappler, and then for a jiu-jitsu guy. And now for him, who is complete in all areas, but doesn't have anything special in any of them in the end (…). He's complete, he stands up, has basic wrestling, and some submissions in jiu-jitsu, but he does a little bit of everything and doesn't do it that well. He's taking the fight and that's very good for me, I don't like a guy who puts too much pressure on you because he doesn't give you space to think, and he's a guy who gives you space. I will have space to play my game and put it into practice, and bring us a knockout or submission of the night,” he explained.
