Bonnar on fighting Anderson: “I have nothing to be ashamed of”

the american Stephan bonnar was not a match for Anderson Silva. In the main fight of UFC Rio 3, an event held last Saturday, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian lowered his guard, leaned against the fence and accepted his opponent's blows, which were not shocking. Soon after, the “Spider” took Bonnar to the ground with a powerful knee to the plexus.

But his performance in Brazil did not displease the North American, who recognized Anderson's superiority and said he was not ashamed of his performance in the confrontation.

“I'm definitely happy. I'm so grateful that they (UFC officials) gave me this fight. I'm happy, I have nothing to be ashamed of. I fought Anderson, followed my game plan and did what I had to do. This is MMA. One small mistake, one small opening, is all it takes. He landed a perfect knee at a perfect time,” said Bonnar, in an interview with the website MMA fighting.

Stephan, who had never been knocked out before, talked about how the Brazilian's blow affected his movements and the respect and admiration he has for Anderson.

“I’ve never been kneed like that. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move. I was left crippled, waiting for my body to be able to get some air. It seemed like an eternity, and finally the referee stopped. But when I watched the fight, it was like, 'Wow, that was really fast.' The way he placed the knee at the right time, the whole setup and the transition… Yes, there is a part of me that respects him a lot”, he added.
