Holly Holm relies on partnership with Jon Jones to overcome Irene Aldana this Saturday

Former UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), Holly holm had a strong boost in preparation for the duel against Irene aldana, which takes place this Saturday (3), on 'Ilha da Luta', in Abu Dhabi. One step away from another title fight, the American revealed that she worked intensely with Jon Jones, teammate at Jackson Wink MMA, in his preparation and celebrates the presence of the legend in his training.

“We watched the videos and really broke down some things he thought I should be careful about and some things I could do to her. I really appreciate her time and her wisdom and intelligence in this. I love hearing his opinion, because he can listen to what the coaches say and turn it into a great performance”, said the fighter, in an interview with 'Combate'.

Current number two in the category's ranking, Holly knows that a new title fight may not be so close, as, in July 2019, she ended up being easy prey for Amanda nunes, losing by knockout in the first round. The American, however, understands that a great performance on Aldana could put her back on the front line to face the 'Lione' next year.

“I know there are a lot of girls who are emerging and you never know who is going to come out of the shadows and do big things. I never look down on any girl. I know it's a shallow category, there aren't many (big names), but there are still a lot of girls learning and striving to grow. It all depends on how we do. I think each victory puts you closer to the belt. But I’m focused on this fight, I don’t think too far ahead,” she concluded.

At 38 years old, Holm is heading towards his 19th appearance in professional MMA. Famous for having defeated the legendary Ronda Rousey, in 2015, and won the division title, the North American currently has 13 wins and five losses in her career.

Holly's opponent this weekend, Irene, today, is in 6th position in the group led by Amanda. The athlete is coming off a great victory over the, until then undefeated, Ketlen Scallop, in December of last year.
