Lightweight (70,3kg) has always been one of the most interesting categories for MMA fans, due to the quality and diversity of fighters it presents and it seems that its phase is only improving. No wonder, the feared Khabib Nurmagomedov begins to lose some of its favoritism. Dan Hooker, member of the top-5, and one of the names of the new generation is excited about the future of the division.

To the North American website Submission Radio, the New Zealander listed three athletes he would like to face in his next fight. One of them is Tony Ferguson, which was praised. On the other hand, Michael chandler, recently signed to Bellator, was also remembered, but Hooker wants to send him back to the organization.

“The best choice, without a doubt, would be Ferguson. That's a fight I'd like to do. There is a mystique around Ferguson and I would love to compete against him. The second option would be Chandler. He is the reserve for the lightweight title fight and this shows that the UFC expects a lot from him. I would love to welcome him to the UFC and knee him in the face. If Sean Shelby calls me and wants me to fight Chandler, we'll do it at some numbered event. He's good, but we UFC fighters have a different caliber. I’ll hit Chandler in the chin and send him back to the B league,” Hooker said.

Last but not least comes Charles of the Bronx. Hooker informed that this fight is not difficult to happen and asked the Brazilian to collaborate.

“In third is Charles. Some reporters say he is challenging me, but I don't know anything. He can speak or make a video. Just say “Hooker, I want to fight you!” It's not something difficult. I don't speak Portuguese, so I can't understand, but if he's clearer, we'll fight. I would accept facing any of the three. All it takes is Ferguson, Chandler and Charles to raise their hands”, he concluded.

Currently, Dan Hooker is in fourth position in the lightweight division. At 30 years old, the New Zealander has won three of his last four fights and his last appearance was in the defeat to Dustin poirier, in June 2020, a fight that should compete for the best of the year award at the MMA Oscars.
