Bellator 76 was full of different emotions for Brazilian athletes. The event, which was held on Friday night (12), in Windsor, Canada, featured as its main attraction the fight between Eddie Alvarez and the Brazilian Patricky Pitbull, with the North American winning by knockout in the first round. Previously, Rio de Janeiro native Wagnney Fabiano returned to MMA in style. The Nova União athlete submitted Akon Stepanyan and advanced to the semifinals of the organization's featherweight GP.
Alvarez knocks out Pitbull
In the main fight of the night, the potiguar Patricky Pitbull entered the fight against Eddie Alvarez, but the American showed in his first moves why he is wanted by the UFC and should sign with the biggest MMA organization in the world in the coming months.
With a straight right, Alvarez hit the Brazilian who went to the ground, but with great courage Pitbull got up and went after his opponent.
The fight was even, but in the final seconds of the first round, Alvarez took advantage of the Brazilian's oversight and landed a beautiful high kick to Patricky's head. He also received two strong punches on the ground until referee “Big” Joe McCarthy ended the fight.
Wagnney submits in return to MMA
Earlier, Brazil achieved victory in the event. Wagnney Fabiano from Rio had his first fight in two years and showed the efficiency of his jiu-jitsu against Akon Stepanyan. The Brazilian insisted on trying to take him down until he put the Armenian on the ground, and quickly secured an armbar to end the dispute.
With the victory, Wagnney faces Rad Martinez in the semifinals of the featherweight tournament. The winner of the GP receives a chance to compete for the franchise belt against current champion Pat Curran.
