“The guy is special. I've been in this game my whole life. I've never seen anything like it. He is special, different. He wants to fight again. Who is next? How are we going to get him a fight? It's fun, and I like it. When you're a fight fan, you love watching a guy like that. (…) He won in 17 seconds. He didn't have much time to train. It's been crazy since he arrived. If I can get him a fight on 'Ilha da Luta', I'll do it. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life,” said White, at the press conference after the show.
Although he is amazed by the performances of the Swede, who won his three UFC fights in impressive fashion and remains undefeated in MMA, Dana speaks cautiously about giving Chimaev a chance against an elite welterweight opponent. The representative then spoke about the athlete's chance to face, for example, Leon edwards, which, today, is in third place in the group led by Kamaru Usman.
"I don't know. If he's going to face a guy like that (Edwards) and he's reaching the top 5, you need to give the athlete complete training”, concluded the 'boss'.
Chimaev, 26 years old, debuted in Ultimate on July 15 of this year, in a victory over John Phillips. 10 days later, the Swede was in action again when he crashed rhys mckee with a knockout in the first round. The fighter currently has nine appearances as a professional in MMA.
