Friday night was a night of victories for Brazilian athletes in the United States. In addition to Antonio Pezão and Diego Nunes, who shone at UFC on FX 5 (remember here), two Brazilian heavyweights shone at Bellator.
In action in the 75th edition of the event, Brazilians Thiago “Big Monster” and Vinicius Spartan defeated Eric Prindle and Mark Holata, respectively. The duels were valid for the first phase of the organization's heavyweight GP. Now, the Brazilians qualified for the semifinals of the tournament.
“Big Monster” passed the stage after Eric Prindle was disqualified at the end of the first round, when the North American stomped the Brazilian's genitals. Now, Thiago faces Richard Hale in the semifinals, who knocked out Mike Wessel on November 2nd.
In turn, Spartan, who was making his debut at the event, needed just over three minutes to submit Mark Holata with an arm-bar and have the right to face Alexander Volkov, who went through former Strikeforce athlete Brett Rogers.
