“The difficult part of this is that we saw him twice in the UFC. The first guy he faced, John Phillips, had one win and four losses in the UFC. So he wasn't very successful. The second guy rhys mckee I had just joined the organization. So, he hadn't won yet. He really crushed those guys, but they had the level of Gerald meerschaert? The answer is no'. Sometimes people can do well against not so good opponents and when they are subjected to a little competition, it is much more difficult”, said Askren, in an interview with 'Submission Radio'.

Ben then seemed eager to know how Chimaev would do against a more technical opponent. The former ONE FC champion, however, will have the opportunity to analyze Khamzat this Saturday, against Meerschaert, in one of the most anticipated fights in the UFC Las Vegas 11.

“I really don't know what to expect from Chimaev. I know Gerald is very good, very tough. (…) One of the things I know is that Gerald is difficult to finish, difficult to control. I can see Chimaev going up and not being able to do any damage, finishing and then Gerald starting to control the fight. I see that 100%,” he concluded.

Against Meerschaert, Khamzat will reach the milestone of three appearances in just two months. The athlete is still negotiating a confrontation against Demian Maia for the next month. Today, Chimaev has eight positive results in his career and has never been beaten in MMA.
